Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted the importance of the redevelopment project, stating, “Today is a day for our law enforcement officers because two of the activities that we are engaging in today are for their welfare and our collective security and safety of lives and property.”
He further emphasized the significance of the transformation, noting that the barracks, which had provided shelter for officers over the decades, had deteriorated due to age and lack of maintenance. The project, he said, symbolized the state’s commitment to bridging the housing deficit and providing a conducive environment for officers and their families.
Sanwo-Olu remarked, “This transformative redevelopment project to provide 2,200 modern housing units at the Ijeh Police Barracks, Obalende is part of intervention aimed at bridging housing deficit and provide a modern, safe housing and conducive living environment for the officers of the Nigeria Police Force and their families all over the country.”
