Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Adanma Luke, has issued an apology to Nigerians following the tragic death of actor Junior Pope and four crew members.
The incident occurred on April 10, 2024, when their boat capsized in the River Niger in Asaba, Delta State, while en route to a movie location.
In the wake of intense public backlash surrounding the accident, Luke has finally taken responsibility for the unfortunate event.
Addressing the issue on social media, she expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and shared her struggles to remain strong in the face of the incident.
Luke stated, however, that she is not to blame for what was ultimately a fated occurrence.
In her words, she said, “I have come to say I’m sorry. I’m sorry, Nigerians. From what people are saying, I took away your loved ones. I’m so sad that this happened on my movie set. As much as I’m trying to stay strong, I find myself struggling.”
She continued, “I’m devastated that this tragedy occurred while they were working for me. But I am not God. It was destined to happen. Many people have been criticizing me.
“Nigerians, I am not okay. I don’t know what is happening to me. I did not plan for what happened to Junior Pope and the crew members. Please forgive me.”
Adanma Luke’s apology comes as she faces growing pressure from the public and fans who have called for accountability in the wake of the accident.
The actress remains visibly shaken and emotionally affected by the loss and has acknowledged the impact of the tragedy on her personal well-being.
The Nollywood community and fans across Nigeria continue to mourn the loss of Junior Pope and the other crew members who lost their lives in the River Niger boat mishap.
