Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen is close to finalizing a move to Saudi Pro League champions Al-Hilal in a deal reportedly worth up to €50 million, with personal terms nearly agreed and only government clearance remaining.
According to Sky Sports Switzerland journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Osimhen has been in advanced talks with Al-Hilal president Fahad bin Nafel. The proposed contract would see the Napoli forward earn €17.5 million annually, including bonuses, on a three-year deal.
However, while negotiations between the player and Al-Hilal have progressed swiftly, the transfer remains on hold as the Saudi Ministry of Sports has yet to approve the financial disbursement needed for the deal to go through.
“While personal terms are close to being reached between Osimhen and Fahad bin Nafel, Al Hilal cannot yet validate this transfer,”
Tavolieri reported.
“Indeed, the Saudi club is waiting to receive the total amount expected from the Saudi government to finalise the transaction, and thus contact Napoli to conclude the agreement between the clubs.”
Despite the delay, sources say all parties remain optimistic. Osimhen has directly communicated his desire to join the Saudi champions to bin Nafel, signaling a serious intent to leave Napoli.
Still under contract with Napoli until 2026, Osimhen had been linked to major European clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United, and Juventus, but his high wage demands reportedly stalled negotiations. Al-Hilal, backed by state wealth, appears to be one of the few clubs able to meet both the player’s valuation and salary expectations.
If completed, this transfer would represent another marquee signing for the Saudi Pro League as it continues its aggressive push to attract top global talent and rival Europe’s elite competitions.
