OwelekeTV News — Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, has filed a N100.3 billion defamation lawsuit against Senate President Godswill Akpabio at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja.
The senator alleges that Akpabio defamed her through a post on his official Facebook page, which was authored by his aide, Mfon Patrick. The post, titled “Is Local Content Committee of the Senate NATASHA’s BIRTHRIGHT,” reportedly contained remarks that tarnished her image and questioned her role in the Senate.
In her lawsuit, Akpoti-Uduaghan argues that the publication was defamatory, provocative, and damaging to her reputation among colleagues and the general public.
She is asking the court to declare the statement defamatory and confirm that it was intended to bring public disapproval upon her.
She is also seeking an immediate retraction of the statement and a public apology to be published in a widely circulated national newspaper.
Furthermore, she is requesting a perpetual injunction to prevent Akpabio and his aide from making similar defamatory remarks in the future.
Akpoti-Uduaghan is demanding N100 billion in general damages and an additional N300 million to cover legal costs.

She insists that the post falsely portrayed her in a negative light, including statements such as:
“It is a bottled anger by the Kogi Lawmaker, who knows nothing about legislative rules. She thinks being a lawmaker is all about pancaking her face and wearing transparent outfits to the Chambers.”
The lawsuit comes in the wake of a recent clash between Akpoti-Uduaghan and Akpabio over the reassignment of her Senate seat.
The controversial move, reportedly linked to political realignments, led to a heated confrontation in which Akpabio ordered his Aide-de-Camp to escort her out of the chamber.
The case is yet to be assigned a hearing date.
