OwelekeTV News — The Nigerian Senate has taken a firm stance against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan following her protest over the reassignment of her seat in the chamber.
On Tuesday, Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced that the matter had been officially referred to the Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Public Petitions Committee for investigation.
The controversy began when Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, was relocated from her original seat in the minority section to the last row.
The senator strongly opposed the change, arguing that the decision was made without her consent. However, her resistance was considered a breach of Senate rules, prompting disciplinary action.

Speaking during the plenary session, Senate President Akpabio confirmed that a motion had been moved to have the case reviewed by the committee.
“There’s a motion before us that we should refer the entirety of the saga to our Ethics, Code of Conduct and Public Petitions, and then revert back to us,”
he stated.
Akpabio further recalled that during the initial discussion of the issue, Akpoti-Uduaghan had not even addressed the Senate from her designated seat, which, according to him, only escalated the situation.
“Even the first time the issue came up here, our distinguished sister was not even speaking from her seat. And that was when we tried to call her to order,”
he added.
Following the referral, the committee is expected to conduct a thorough investigation and report its findings back to the Senate. The outcome of the probe will determine whether further actions will be taken or if the matter will be resolved internally.
