OwelekeTV (Entertainment) — Voletta Wallace, the mother of the legendary rapper Christopher Wallace, popularly known as The Notorious B.I.G., has passed away at the age of 78.
According to the Monroe County Coroner, she died of natural causes on Friday morning in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.
Wallace was widely recognized for overseeing and managing her late son’s estate following his tragic murder in 1997.
Biggie Smalls, as he was fondly called, was a dominant force in hip-hop until he was fatally shot in a drive-by attack in Los Angeles at just 24 years old.
Under her management, the value of Biggie’s estate reportedly grew from an estimated $10 million at the time of his death to approximately $160 million.
Her passing comes months after she made headlines for her controversial remarks about Sean “Diddy” Combs, the music mogul currently facing multiple legal battles, including allegations of sexual assault.
Biggie had been the first artist signed to Diddy’s Bad Boy Records in 1993, a deal that marked the beginning of his meteoric rise in the music industry.
Wallace’s contributions to preserving her son’s legacy have been widely acknowledged in the hip-hop community, as she played a key role in ensuring his influence remained strong even decades after his death.
