Inmates in custodial facilities across Kano State are set to receive health insurance coverage under the Kano State Healthcare Contributory Scheme. The initiative aims to provide access to both basic and comprehensive healthcare services for those in custody.
Dr. Rahila Aliyu Muktar, the Executive Secretary of the Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KACHMA), announced the development during a visit to the Controller of Corrections, Kano State Command, Ado Inuwa. “The Kano State Government is dedicated to ensuring the medical welfare of all inmates, recognizing that health is fundamental to rehabilitation and reintegration efforts,” she stated.
Controller Ado Inuwa expressed gratitude for the state government’s support, describing the initiative as a significant step toward improving the lives of inmates.
He remarked, “This gesture will not only enhance the health of inmates but also serve as motivation for them to reform and reintegrate as productive, law-abiding citizens after their discharge.”
