The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Prophetess Naomi Silekunola, the ex-wife of the Ooni of Ife, alongside seven others, in connection with the tragic stampede that claimed the lives of 35 minors during a funfair in Ibadan.
The police spokesperson, SP Osifeso Adewale, disclosed that Prophetess Naomi Silekunola, identified as the main sponsor of the event, is currently under investigation. She was arrested along with the Principal of Islamic High School, Fasasi Abdulahi, and six other individuals, including Genesis Christopher, Tanimowo Moruf, Anisolaja Olabode, Idowu Ibrahim, and Abiola Oluwatimilehin.

The stampede occurred at the Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan, during a funfair hosted by the Prophetess. In the aftermath, 35 minors were confirmed dead, with six others critically injured and undergoing medical treatment. The police have assured that investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the incident and bring those responsible to justice.
