The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) sect in Nasarawa State has called off its indefinite strike following an agreement with the state government on the implementation of consequential adjustments to the new minimum wage.
The strike, which began on December 1, was in response to a directive from the national leadership of the unions, mandating state chapters to take action if governors failed to implement the new wage structure.
Addressing the press, the Chairman of the Congress in the state, Ismaila Okoh Labour announced the suspension during a joint press briefing on Monday in Lafia, the state capital.

He revealed that the agreement was reached after extensive negotiations and the intervention of key stakeholders.
“We have finalised a template for the consequential adjustments of the minimum wage for workers on Grade Levels 7 to 16,”
The Trade Union Congress (TUC) Chairman, Mohammed Doma, added that the payment of the new wage, including the adjustments, would be backdated to take effect from December 1.
The labour leaders commended workers for their patience, unity, and peaceful conduct throughout the industrial action and directed all employees to return to work immediately, urging them to take their duties seriously.
