Rivers PDP Crisis: Woke Blasts Fubara Over Comments on Wike’s Legacy

Chukwuemeka Woke, a prominent figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area in Rivers State, has taken a swipe at Governor Siminalayi Fubara for his recent remarks about projects executed by past administrations.

Governor Fubara, during the commissioning of projects in Ahoada and Etche, reportedly made disparaging comments about certain infrastructure initiatives of his predecessors. Specifically, he referred to a road built in Omuma Local Government Area as a “farm road that leads nowhere.”

Woke, who also serves as the Director General of the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA), condemned the remarks in a statement released on Friday. He described the Governor’s comments as troubling and hypocritical.

“How can a leader downplay critical infrastructure that supports farmers and facilitates market access, while simultaneously promoting plans for similar road projects? This is an unfortunate contradiction,” Woke stated.

He emphasized that politics should focus on addressing the needs of the people, irrespective of party affiliations or loyalties. Woke further accused Fubara of failing to acknowledge the contributions of his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, whose projects, he argued, have significantly benefited local communities.

“To deride Wike’s efforts, especially when they have tangible impacts, is not just misleading but outright deceptive,” Woke asserted.

He also alleged that Governor Fubara’s actions reveal an ungrateful attitude, noting that Wike played a key role in his rise, including his promotion as the state’s Accountant General.

Woke concluded by warning the public about Fubara’s alleged pretentious nature, describing it as a concern for Rivers residents and beyond.
