A Federal High Court in Abuja has approved bail for Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi State, in connection with a 19-count charge of money laundering amounting to N82 billion.
Justice Emeka Nwite, presiding over the case on Friday, ruled in favor of the bail request after hearing submissions from both the prosecution and defense teams.

- The court stipulated that Bello must provide two sureties who each meet the N500 million bail sum, with both required to own properties within the court’s jurisdiction. These properties’ title deeds must be deposited with the court, alongside an affidavit of means to confirm their eligibility.
Additionally, the former governor was ordered to surrender his international passport. He will remain in custody at the Nigerian Correctional Centre in Kuje until all bail requirements are fulfilled.
