The Kano State Police Command has apprehended three individuals in possession of counterfeit currencies worth N129,542,826,000.
Speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday, the Command’s Spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed that the fake currencies included $3,366,000, CFA51,970,000, and N1,443,000. He confirmed that the suspects, including the individual who initially held the fake money, are in custody and assisting with investigations into the source of the counterfeits.

Additionally, the command recovered six live ammunition, three tricycles, eight motorcycles, and 175 wraps of suspected Indian hemp during ongoing operations. Other recoveries include 278 sheep, seven cattle, and a quantity of diazepam tablets.
Kiyawa emphasized the effectiveness of these efforts in combating crime, stating that major cases of kidnapping, armed robbery, and drug-related offenses have significantly decreased in the state.
