Cristiano Ronaldo made football history by scoring his 900th career goal during a thrilling UEFA Nations League match between Portugal and Croatia.
Portugal, under the leadership of coach Roberto Martinez, secured a 2-1 victory at the Estadio da Luz, with Ronaldo delivering the decisive strike.
The match began with Diogo Dalot of Manchester United opening the scoring in the 7th minute. Ronaldo followed up with a clinical finish in the 34th minute, converting a cross from Paris Saint-Germain’s Nuno Mendes to extend Portugal’s lead.
Despite an own goal by Dalot in the 41st minute that offered Croatia a glimmer of hope, they were unable to find an equalizer, leaving Portugal with a hard-fought win.
He said: “It was emotional because it’s a milestone. It seems like any other milestone, but only I know, and the people around me, how hard it is to work every day, to be physically and psychologically fit, to score 900 goals. It’s a unique milestone in my career.”
