Former spokesperson for the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, Daniel Bwala, has cautioned against the potential for violent outcomes in the planned protests against current economic challenges.
Bwala, who is in the process of defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), expressed concerns that protests could escalate into violence, citing examples from Kenya where such unrest resulted in damage to public and private property.
In his statement on Wednesday, Bwala acknowledged the constitutional right to peaceful protest but emphasized the risks associated with protests turning destructive.
He highlighted the aftermath of violent protests, where communities suffer from looting, destruction of infrastructure, and setbacks in development.
Bwala commended efforts by President Bola Tinubu to address the needs of Nigerians amidst ongoing economic difficulties, urging restraint and dialogue to resolve grievances without resorting to violence.
