The outgoing speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has taken over as chief of staff for former president Muhammadu Buhari from Ibrahim Gambari.
Tinubu named Gbajabiamila his chief of staff on Friday.
Gbajabiamila thanked the president in a tweet and announced that he would assume office on January 14. He also promised to work hard in his new role.
In the general election, Gbajabiamila, who has served in the lower chamber for 20 years, was re-elected to represent Surulere 1 federal seat.
He had previously won five consecutive elections and was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2003.
Before being chosen as speaker in 2019, the speaker had previously held the positions of minority whip, minority leader, and majority leader.
