The Edo State Government under Governor Godwin Obaseki has announced intentions to recover more than 20 vehicles currently in possession of former Deputy Governor, Comrade Phillip Shaibu.
In a public notice issued on Tuesday and signed by Commissioner of Information and Orientation, Chris Osa Nehikhare, the state government outlined plans to retrieve the vehicles allocated to Shaibu’s former office.
The notice, titled ‘Public Notice On Retrieval Of 22 Official Government Vehicles’, grants Shaibu a seven-day ultimatum to return the vehicles. Failure to comply will prompt the involvement of security agencies for their retrieval.
“The Edo State Government hereby issues this notice directing the retrieval of official government vehicles allocated to the Office of the Deputy Governor, Edo State, which are currently in the custody of the former Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu,” the notice stated.
The directive comes amid a rift between Shaibu and Governor Obaseki, which led to Shaibu’s impeachment by the Edo State House of Assembly. Marvellous Omobayo Godwins, a former Labour Party chieftain, subsequently replaced him.
