United States President Joe Biden addressed supporters at a campaign rally in North Carolina, acknowledging his physical limitations while defending his administration’s achievements amid criticism from former President Donald Trump.
Less than 24 hours after a heated debate in Georgia, Biden reflected on his health and performance, stating, “Folks, I don’t walk as easily as I used to, I don’t speak as smoothly as I used to. I don’t debate as well as I used to. But I know what I do know. I know how to tell the truth, I know right from wrong.”
He emphasized resilience, asserting, “I know, as millions of Americans know, when you get knocked down you get back up.” Biden also vowed to protect democracy from future threats, declaring, “I won’t allow Trump to attack our democracy again, I don’t think so folks.”
Reflecting on the contrast between his administration and Trump’s tenure, Biden criticized his predecessor’s impact, describing it as a “constitutional crisis and international embarrassment.” He reaffirmed his belief in America’s values of “honesty and decency,” contrasting them with what he portrayed as Trump’s motives of “revenge and retribution.”
Commenting on the previous night’s debate, Biden critiqued Trump’s conduct, stating, “I spent 90 minutes on a stage debating with a guy who has the morals of an alley cat. Did you see Trump last night? My guess is he set, and I mean this sincerely, a new record for the most lies told in a single debate.”
In response, Trump had earlier accused Biden of mishandling the economy and exacerbating inflation issues, criticizing, “He has not done a good job. He’s done a poor job, and inflation is killing our country. It is killing us.”
