Sensational Nigerian singer, Oludipe Oluwasanmi David, popularly known as Spyro, has come under heavy criticism over his condemnation of worldly artist and music.

‘Who’s Your Guy’ crooner, during a live podcast ‘The honest Bunch’, said that some fans internalizes harmful lyrics from musicians without knowing how dangerous it influences their morals and lifestyle.

The singer, who vowed to influence the secular music industry for God no matter how long it would take, noted that these fans sings this worldly songs and wonder why they are jacked to want to perform fraud.

He said the devil doesn’t come with two horns but via what people allow into our systems.

Reacting to the singer’s statement, prominent Nigerian music journalist, Joey Akan via the microblogging platform, X formerly known as Twitter on Monday called out Spyro for exhibiting hypocrisy.

According to the award winning journalist, the singer despite his ceaseless attack on ‘worldly singers and their lyrics,’ he never fails to dine/collaborate with them.

He wrote: “This boy Spyro received his biggest ever song by working with worldly-adjacent artists. He chose Tiwa Savage for a collaboration over his faith-based colleagues.

“Chioma Jesus and Dunsin Onyekan lost out on “who’s your guy,” “He’s also signed to a worldly label, performs at worldly events, including an upcoming activation for Trophy, an alcoholic brand that caters to nightlife and winebibers.

“But he never fails to ceaselessly attack his colleagues, their professional output, and their themes of escapism and realism. Add that to a collaboration with DJ Neptune and Iyanya, two ‘worldly’ music stalwarts.

“He also will not grace his gospel podcasts, but try to harness numbers from a “worldly” podcast.

“Talking about how he hates the secular industry because he is “for Jesus.” While working in it, serving it, benefiting from it, and making a living out of it.

“I call hyprocrisy. Promoting Jesus, but dining in the lucrative altars of mammon.”
