The Presidential Election Petitions Court (PEPC) sitting in Abuja has adopted the final written addresses of all parties in the petition filed by the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the February 25 election, Atiku Abubakar.

This followed the adoption of the final written addresses of all parties involved in the petition filed by Atiku and the PDP, seeking to nullify the electoral victory of President Bola Ahned Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election.

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Atiku are the petitioners while the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), President Tinubu, and the All Progressives Congress (APC) are the respondents.

Counsel to the petitioners in the case, Chris Uche SAN in his admission, pleaded with the court to grant the prayers of his clients.

Uche pleaded with the Court to dismiss all the preliminary objections to the admissibility of some exhibits that should be used in the determination of the petitioners’ case.

In his response, counsel to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Wole Olanipekun (SAN) urged the Court to dismiss the petition for lacking in merit.

While counsel to INEC, Abubakar Mahmud (SAN) and counsel to APC, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN)  appealed to the tribunal to dismiss the petition as the petitioners failed to discharge the burden placed upon them by law in their petition.

After the adoption of the final written addresses, the Presidential tribunal is expected to deliver its judgment in the petition at a later date.

However, rulings on all the preliminary objections in the petition filed by Atiku have been reserved alongside the judgment on the main petition.
