The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced a shift in the implementation date of the new toll fare at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. Originally scheduled for July 17, 2023, the new toll charges will now come into effect on August 1, 2023. This decision was made to allow airport users to benefit from the current charges for an extended period.
According to the statement released by FAAN’s management in Abuja on Sunday, the revised toll fares will apply to various vehicle categories. The fare for cars will be increased from N200 to N300, while buses and Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) will see an increment from N300 to N500 only.
For trucks with six tyres, the toll fare will rise from N500 to N1,000, and the tariff for trailers and containers will be fixed at N2,000.
FAAN’s management has urged the public to take note of the change in the effective date and tariff, ensuring a smooth transition to the new charges. Additionally, they emphasized the importance of adhering to the rules and regulations governing movement within the airport premises.
To enhance traffic flow and create a calm and serene environment around the airport, airport users who own vehicles are encouraged to use the dedicated ‘Park and Pay’ car parks provided for their convenience. Commercial drivers are reminded to use the designated drop-off zones solely for dropping passengers and not for pick-up purposes. The airport already offers registered car hire services, including FAAN Taxi, Bolt, and Uber, conveniently located along the airport exit way.
Furthermore, FAAN has introduced an exclusive parking lot for the heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), private company Managing Directors (MDs), and highly recognized individuals who frequently use the airport. These esteemed individuals can also avail themselves of VIP parking privileges with the use of special VIP parking stickers.
With these changes coming into effect on August 1, 2023, travelers and airport users are advised to plan accordingly and adhere to the revised toll fare for a hassle-free experience at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
