Fubara Speaks After Presenting 2026 Rivers State Budget

The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has confirmed the presentation of a ₦1.854 trillion 2026 budget to the Rivers State House of Assembly.

According to the Governor, in a statement on Friday, the budget is tagged ‘Budget of Resilience for Growth and Development.’

He added that the intention of his administration is to sustain the economic growth, expand critical infrastructure and improve the welfare of the people.

Giving a further breakdown, Governor Fubara said the proposal entails ₦413.11 billion for recurrent expenditure and ₦1.405 trillion for capital projects.

“Today, I presented the 2026 Appropriation proposal of N1.854Trillion to the Rivers State House of Assembly.

“Tagged, Budget of Resilience for Growth and Development. Our intention is to sustain the economic growth, expand critical infrastructure and improve the welfare of our people.

“The proposal entails N413.11 billion for recurrent expenditure and N1.405 trillion for capital projects which underscores my administration’s commitment to accelerating development across the State especially capturing all sectors of our economy,” he wrote via his Account.

Governor Fubara on Friday, presented a ₦1.854 trillion proposed budget for the 2026 fiscal year to the state House of Assembly.

The presentation marked the governor’s first appearance before the Martin Amaewhule-led Assembly since the political crisis that divided the legislature in 2023.

Fubara said the proposed budget was designed to consolidate economic growth, strengthen infrastructure, expand social investment and improve human capital development across the state.

He projected total revenue of ₦1.854 trillion for the year, representing a 24.49 per cent increase over the adjusted 2025 budget.
