There is a crack within the leadership of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), a platform for Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Rival factions have emerged within the Governors Forum.

According to Arise News, Imo State Governor and Chairman of the forum, Hope Uzodinma, has insisted that he remains in charge of the PGF alongside his deputy, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani.

However, another bloc within the forum has reportedly aligned behind Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who are now leading a separate faction.

While neither faction has released a statement on the development, sources within the party said tensions had been building over internal leadership control and strategic positioning ahead of the 2027 elections.

The crack in leadership may also trigger fresh political calculations within the APC, especially as governors remain critical power brokers in the party’s national structure.

It would be recalled that amidst the uncertainty surrounding developments in the PGF, certain emerging reports claim the Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has emerged the new Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), replacing Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma.

The decision was reportedly taken during a special meeting of governors elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC), which took place on Thursday night in Abuja.

According to Vanguard, the meeting took place shortly after Uzodinma represented APC governors during the presentation of President Bola Tinubu’s presidential nomination and expression of interest forms in the nation’s capital.

Sources familiar with the meeting told the publication that around 20 APC governors were present at the closed-door gathering.

However, the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) has denied reports that the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, was removed as the group’s chairman.

The forum described the report making rounds online as false and lacking any truth. It said no meeting was held where such a decision was taken and no resolution was reached to remove the governor from his position.

In a statement released on Friday, the Director General of the forum, Folorunso Aluko, said the report was misleading and should be ignored by the public.

According to him, the secretariat of the forum has no record of any meeting or agreement concerning the removal of Uzodimma as chairman.
